St. Ivo 1 vs Melbourn 1 (25th February 2026)

Melbourn won 19-4

The 1sts extended their winning run to three in a row with this 19-4 success over St. Ivo, possibly Melbourn 1sts longest ever winning run in their Cambridgeshire Division 1 history (some seasons have seen only three match wins in TOTAL!).

Melbourn started a string up after the Saints forfeited the fifth string, leaving the boys seeking just two more to claim the winning bonus. Matt Sampson (2) quickly delivered the first of these, cruising to a comprehensive 11-4, 11-7, 11-4 win over Marco Pita. It was harder work next door for Miles Jeanerret (4), but he eventually wore Matt Dixon down to claim an 8-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-6 success.

That meant the last two matches were just about the margin for victory. Mike Herd (3) looked on course to extend it when he powered into an impressive two game lead over John Dewis. John is a strong player however, who has played top string in Div.1 before and not been out of his depth, and unfortunately for Mike he found some of that previous form to turn things around, Mike falling 11-1, 11-6, 5-11, 7-11, 7-11. Still two more points for the team. Plus a further three from Chris Shaw (1) as he picked up a clean 11-7, 11-8, 11-6 win over Dane Schwier.
